Mike Lonergan (pronounced LAW-ner-gun) is serving his second term on the Tacoma City Council. Prior to that he had a 20-year career as an executive of Christian social service organizations, including Tacoma Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army.
Lonergan is the Executive Excellence Party candidate for Pierce County Executive in this November’s general election.
Council Member Lonergan is chairman of several committees, including the 4-county Growth Management Policy Board, the Pierce County Regional Council, and Tacoma’s Government Performance and Finance Committee. He also serves on the Pierce County Employment and Training Board, the Pierce Transit Board, and Tacoma’s Public Safety and Human Services Committee.
Lonergan is a graduate of University of Washington, magna cum laude, and has also completed the Government Executives program at Harvard’s Kennedy School. He is past president of several organizations, including Tacoma Kiwanis Club, Tacoma Little Theatre, Council of Executive Directors and New Tacoma Neighborhood Council.

Mike just celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary--he and Paula live in the Proctor District of Tacoma and have two married sons and three grandchildren. Mike and Paula are active members of Peace Assembly Church.
